How is ADHD Diagnosed?
Our clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. We conducts a thorough, 3-step assessment that gathers quantitative, descriptive and observational data in order to come up with the most accurate diagnosis possible. Here is how a typical Initial Assessment with us is structured:
Computer-based Testing: This FDA-approved, 20-minute computerized test is based on a concept called Continuous Performance Testing, and also assesses for subtle hyperactivity and movements. We are able to gather data on the person’s ability to sit still, inhibit impulsivity and respond accurately to images on a computer screen.
Self and Other Report Scales: this data helps us to construct a 360 degree view of the clinical picture.
Clinical Interview & Assessment: We then conducts a thorough diagnostic interview that delves into current symptoms, past history, medical complications and other aspects that helps to provide a context to the presenting problem.
How is A-ADHD Treated?
We will combine findings from the three components above to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan. We strive to ensure our clients understand all aspects of our findings and suggested treatment plan. We take the time to explain concepts, answer questions and have a collaborative discussion that empowers our clients to make the best choices based on their individual circumstances. ADHD can be safely and effectively treated with various modalities, including medications and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In some cases, both may be indicated for optimal outcomes.
